Panchakarma Part 3: Day 7 The After-Treatment Look & Getting Ready for Purgation
So… how do I look? Top model material, right? LOL!
This is how you leave a Panchakarma treatment, face mask on, bindi in place, hair wrapped up tightly, and a glow that’s more “herbal walk” than catwalk. It’s all part of the ritual here.
After each treatment, there’s one more step: a fresh coconut water. Straight from a green coconut, opened just for you. The sweetness and freshness are incomparable.
Surrounded by coconut palms here in Kerala, I’ve been noticing how coconuts taste different depending on where you are in the world. Bali, Thailand, the Philippines, India… each has its own subtle flavour, and it’s one of those tiny details that fascinates me. I mean it makes sense of course different soils etc
Tomorrow is Purgation Day
Ayurvedic Panchakarma purgation day instructions as followed during Caroline’s detox retreat in Kerala.
The big news is that tomorrow is purgation day. At 6:00 a.m., I’ll be given a special drink designed to flush the digestive system, part of the deeper cleansing stage of Panchakarma.
After taking it, I’ll be staying in my room for a couple of hours while it does its work. Except for a simple rice soup later in the day I am not allowed food. I’ve taken a photo of the instructions for anyone curious about the exact process.
It’s both slightly daunting and exciting, a bit like standing at the edge of a big leap in the detox journey.
A Lighthearted Pause Before the Deep Work
Today’s short update is just a snapshot of the lighter, quirkier side of Panchakarma. These in-between moments, laughing at how you look, the small rituals like coconut water, are just as much a part of the experience as the treatments themselves.
Tomorrow will be a very different story… but for now, I’m embracing the glow, the bindi, and the sense of anticipation.
